Limiting Questions to Groups of Participants or Segments
You can use the "Limit to Groups" options to ensure that only certain segments of your participants will see the given question or section of your discussion.
This is useful for asking a question to a specific segment, such as the "heavy users," or those that have never heard of a given product.
Limit to Groups within a Question
When editing a question, you'll see the Limit to Group Tags option on the bottom. When you check this box, a list of your group tags will be appear. Select one, or, to select multiple, hold down Control while you click on the different tags. Only users with the selected tags will see the effected question.
If you have selected more than one tag, then the options to the right (Show to all participants that have:) will come into play. These options allow you to specify if you want all participants who have either of the selected tags (all "Males" and all "Unemployed," for example) or only those participants who have all of the selected group tags applied to them (only the "Unemployed" "Males," for example).
If a participant is not in the selected groups, they will not know that this question exists, and it won't be counted towards their question totals.
Limit to Groups for an Entire Section
Additionally, you can limit and entire section to a group. You can either click the Advanced Options on the top right of the section or the Advanced Option button on the far right of that section when looking at the Project Timeline. when you click the Limit Section by Group Tags option on the bottom of this window, you'll be able to specify the tag(s) to which you want this section to be limited. If a participant is not in the selected groups, they will not know that this section exists, and it's questions won't be counted towards their question totals.
