I Can't See Myself in the Preview

When you click "record" for the webcam response video, you may not be able to see yourself in the preview window. Below are the instructions to ensure that your computer is "looking" through the correct camera.

Right click (control+click for Mac) in the preview window

In the webcam box, control+click or right click. When you right click or control+click, you'll see a list of options. Click on "Settings."

Adobe Flash Player Settings

Settings opens the Adobe Flash Player Settings. You should be seeing the privacy screen that you clicked to allow QualBoard to access your camera and microphone. To select your camera, click on the camera icon.

Selecting Your Camera

First, click on the drop down to see what cameras you have listed. Typically, a built in camera will be listed as "Built-in iSight." If you have an alternate camera, the name of the camera should appear in the list. You may just have a camera listed as "USB Class Video." Even if it is a built in camera, select that option first. This is a list of all of the webcams that have ever been installed in your computer. If the wrong one is selected, the recording won't work.

Testing the Camera

Click on the camera circled above to test if the camera you selected from the drop down is the correct camera. The screen will change to a preview of the camera if it is. If not, select another camera from the drop down and click the blue square again.

If this is the correct camera click "Close."
